4th Early Music Workshop in Alicante - February 2009
Grup Valencià pro Música Antiga
Created in 2004, the Grup Valencià pro Música Antiga is a non profit association based in Alicante, Spain.
The aim of the association is to promote early music, term by which we understand the music composed in the period between the middle Ages to the early Romanticism performed on period instruments, originals or copies and under historically informed criteria.
To fulfil this aim the Grup Valencià pro Música Antiga realizes the following activities:
Encourage the realization of early music concerts.
Encourage the realization of conferences and other activities related to early music that help to promote it.
Organize workshops and other teaching and approaching activities to early music and artistic culture.
Creation of an information library provided by the association or extern donations, with written and/or digitalized material related to any theme concerning early music. Access to this library will be exclusive to the members of the association.
Ask for financial help and subventions to the competent institutions to obtain a complementary income to support specific events.
Our field of actions is fundamentally the Valencia region especially the province of Alicante. We are particularly interested in bringing early music to places where it is rarely heard. Bring the audience close to this beautiful and normally unknown and under valuated music by quality and sensible performances.
Experience has shown us that, even if one is not used to listen to this kind of repertoire performed in this way, the reaction of the audience is generally very positive.
